Cal kept a punishing pace and by late afternoon they reached the cliffs. It was too late to cross over and there was too much at stake to rush about without a plan. Caro was setting up camp in the cave and Cal had gone off to see what, if anything, had changed in the landscape since the last time they were there. The tension between them had relaxed on the journey, but the close quarters and the memories threatened that balance now.
Caro felt the ache in her shoulders and headed deeper into the cave to the hot spring, hoping to soak some of the pain away. Shedding her hiking gear and slipping naked into the hot sulfurous water was heavenly. She stretched her long limbs and twisted her tight neck as steam filled the small cavern.
When she opened her eyes, Cal was there. She was shocked. The visceral reaction she had when seeing him naked, was as strong as ever. His body was all contradictions of tight muscles under a soft shell of fat. She opened her mouth to say something and he shook his head to silence her. She was powerless to countermand him and watched silently as he stepped into the steamy swirling water and came close.
She was breathless as he reached for her waist, lifted her out of the water, and onto the edge of the rocks. They stared into each other’s eyes as he slowly lowered his body into the pool and his head between her legs. She gasped as his tongue darted between her lips, but she couldn’t help but open her legs wider to give him access. As he lapped at her sweet juices, she lifted her hips to get him closer, to press harder.
His pushed two fingers inside and reached for her g-spot while still paying delicate attention to her sensitive clit. She threw her head back, leaned on her arms, felt the tremor rock her body and moaned so loudly the sound echoed off the steamy walls. Caro shook with the power of her orgasm, leaned forward, and pulled him even closer, cradling his head in her embrace. When her breathing returned to normal, she found herself brushing his too-long hair out of his face, gently.
Cal looked deep into her eyes, she could see the old longing, and their past reflected in the deep brown swirls she had once loved. Without warning, he closed his eyes, pulled away, and stalked out of sight. She sighed. She longed to go after him, to talk, to… no. None of that mattered. All that mattered was the mission and even the glimpse of what once was couldn’t change that fact now.
